  • Music Find: Ezra Furman

S and I serendipitously discovered Sex Education the day Netflix released season one…. OK, it’s probably less coincidence than my oblivity that S keeps up with EW…. (Oblivity should be a word?) Anyway, it doesn’t take long to get the series musical hook. The soundtrack and score are fabulous, especially if you grew up in the 80’s.

It’s all familiar, even the stuff I hadn’t heard before…. speaking which that’s Ezra Furman, who collected the soundtrack, wrote and performed the score. His band makes a cameo at a school-dance scene, as well.

Check out his sound. It’s a mix of Violent-Femmes-folk-punk, The-Clash-Brit-Punk, and Queenesque-retro-hat-tipping with a bass clarinet garnish.
